OUR 2026 COMPOSER

Adam Wojtasiak

Adam Wojtasiak (he/him) is a composer, percussionist, and conductor originally from Slinger, Wisconsin. He is currently a Music Education student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He won the UW-Eau Claire Bands Concerto Competition and Composition contest during his time at the university, and has had the opportunity to conduct many of UWEC’s ensembles. His musical influences range across the board from concert band and orchestral classics, to video game OSTs, film soundtracks, heavy metal, indie rock, and broadway show tunes. Adam loves letting these musical influences shine in his compositions. He is a strong believer that anyone can make music and deserves an opportunity to play, sing, write, and take ownership in quality musical experiences. When he’s not making music, you will most likely find Adam hiking, playing board games, bouldering, and watching movies with his fiancée Ellah and his cat, Lupin.

About The New Work

Adam is currently working on a grade 1 work for concert band that will be completed late-Fall 2026. Adam describes the work in his own words… “The piece is inspired by my trip to Grand Teton National Park this past June. The first three movements each depict different wildlife that we saw and interacted with (I. A Moose and Her Calf, II. Chipmunks, and III. A Black Bear), and the fourth movement captures the wonder of the park as a whole. My goal with this piece is to encourage students to see the beauty of nature and its connectedness, as well as urging them to get outside and see the world around them! Plus, I think the animal theme will be fun. I've been trying to capture the spirit of Prehistoric Suite (Paul Jennings) as much as possible (mature sounding parts that students can be confident and have plenty of fun with).”
